The East coast of Borneo has some great diving sites and it was on the lovely little island of Mabul, famous for its rare macro underwater life, that I did my PADI Open Water Course to become a qualified Scuba diver. I did 5 dives in different reefs around the island and saw a huge amount of wildlife - tropical fishes galore, turtles, seahorses, starfish, lobster, barracuda, stingray and many more. It really is another world down there!
